Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Authorities stated they were alerted by a man who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Police then found many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

An important official stated the incident rendered him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
